GMCG is delighted to be returning to The Preserve at Chocorua on July 29th for our Annual Watershed Celebration in honor of the volunteers, donors, local organizations, and businesses who make up our watershed community. The celebration marks GMCG’s 28th year of protecting natural resources in the Ossipee Watershed. GMCG was founded in 1997 by a group of concerned citizens in Effingham and has evolved into a multi-disciplinary watershed protection organization engaged in research, education, advocacy and land conservation.
This year’s celebration will feature a relaxed social hour beginning at 4 PM with a light buffet, beverages including beer and wine, and music performed by Taylor Whiteside. Visit GMCG information tables and enjoy the beautiful scenery at The Preserve at Chocorua. For families with children there will be a fun activity led by GMCG staff members. A short program presented by GMCG Board Chair Bob Pustell and Executive Director Nancy Ritger will highlight GMCG’s commitment to the work of protecting the watershed with recognition of those making it possible including committee members, volunteers, and staff.
The 2025 High Watch Award will be presented to Ron Adams of Ossipee for his exemplary service on behalf of the Ossipee Watershed.
Ron has served on the GMCG Land Trust Committee since 2024 and recently joined the Board at GMCG with two decades of conservation work experience in the local community. From a distinguished background as a Fulbright scholar, social studies teacher and education administrator, he has been an active member of the conservation community stewarding land in the Ossipee Watershed including Dan Hole Pond. He served eight years with the Ossipee Conservation Commission and as a member of the Dan Hole Watershed Trust where he was responsible for securing grant funding to solidify protections for ecologically sensitive areas. In the short time Ron has been a member of the GMCG Board he enabled GMCG to move two important projects from concept to reality. GMCG looks forward to celebrating Ron’s service to land conservation in the Ossipee Watershed and hope you can join us!
Whether you have been involved since 1997 or are new to the organization and would like to meet the people of GMCG and learn more, please join the celebration. Thank you to The Preserve at Chocorua for generously hosting this event.
This is a free event (on-site donations welcome) and is open to the public. Please register online by Friday, July 25
