GET WET! Volunteer Teachers
GET WET! volunteers are needed every year to help on water testing days at local schools and libraries. Volunteers attend a short training in January or February led by the Education Coordinator to learn about the program, local water resources, potential contaminants, and how to test for a variety of water quality parameters. Volunteers then assist the Education Coordinator in running a testing station with water quality meters or testing kits to test participants’ well water at scheduled school and public programs. No experience is necessary. This program runs at all times of the year.

Groundwater Model Videos:
The groundwater model demonstrates a number of groundwater concepts:
-movement of water from areas of high pressure to low pressure, -location of the water table
-confined vs. unconfined aquifers
-how contaminants can get into drinking water
-interconnectedness of surface water and groundwater
-You can access the short videos/demo’s here:
The aquifer in a cup activity is an easy one to do in class to demonstrate what groundwater is, an aquifer, the water table, percolation, and other concepts:
Finally, here are a few more student and teacher packets about groundwater with activities and background information about our local water resources:
