AmeriCorps - Green Mountain Conservation Group

GMCG is proud to be partnering with the Lakes Region Conservation Corps as an AmeriCorps host site, currently hosting two full term members and two half term members.

AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors engaging adults in public service work with a goal of “helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.” Members commit to full-time or part-time positions offered by a network of nonprofit community organizations and public agencies, to fulfill assignments in the fields of education, public safety, health care, and environmental protection. The program is often seen as a domestic Peace Corps. It employs more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year. AmeriCorps is an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). It was created under President Bill Clinton by the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993.

Grace PiselliAmeriCorps Member Water Quality Resources Assistant

Grace is a young ecologist that has lived and worked in New England her whole life. With a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Northeastern University, Grace has a passion for understanding the complex relationships within environments. She has a keen interest in aquatic ecosystems, and how people think about them. Grace has worked in multiple aquariums as both an Educator and Aquarist, as well as within the National Park Service through AmeriCorps. This professional experience has only cemented her path as an ecologist. Originally from Milford, Connecticut, she loves to explore the outdoors through tidepooling and international travel. She also enjoys baking for friends and family.

I look forward to being a part of the LRCC Americorps program and working with the Green Mountain Conservation Group to conduct vital surveys and educational outreach to preserve the aquatic resources of the Ossipee watershed for current and future generations to enjoy.

Josey CurleyAmeriCorps Member Conservation Assistant

Hi there! My name is Josey and I’m from Gilford NH. I have a BA in Biology from Keene State College. I enjoy exploring and collecting things along the way. I am super excited to be apart of the Lakes Region Conservation Corps and can’t wait for what these months will hold! I love doodling, animals and learning fun facts.

Ellie HattAmeriCorps Member Conservation Assistant

Ellie is a fresh graduate from the University of Maine at Farmington where she has received her B.S. in Earth and Environmental Science. With a passion for aquatic ecology, the role of Conservation Assistant for the GMCG is a place where she can tap into her love for watershed science and exemplify the importance of citizen science. Most recently she worked as an Intern for the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed on a plant survey team, sparking her interest in learning ways to mitigate/eliminate invasive aquatic plant species as well as general watershed health. Originally from Winslow, ME, she can be found hiking, wakeboarding, tending to her houseplants, and playing ultimate frisbee. She is thrilled to move across the border to New Hampshire, explore the Ossipee Watershed, and participate in a variety of conservation endeavors.
