Dear GMCG Friends,
The Board of Directors of the Green Mountain Conservation Group is pleased to announce the selection of Nancy Ritger of Hart’s Location, N.H. as its next Executive Director, effective December 16, 2024.
Nancy brings deep experience and knowledge gleaned from 40 years as an educator and director at the Appalachian Mountain Club. Over her distinguished career, Nancy created signature educational programs for the AMC, including its Junior Naturalist Program, trained hundreds of volunteers, engaged donors and partnered with major national and area businesses and organizations to protect critical ecological habitats.
For her exemplary work, Nancy has received major service awards from the Tin Mountain Conservation Center and the Guy Waterman Fund, which in 2015 honored her with the Guy Waterman Alpine Steward Award for her lifetime achievements in alpine education, interpretation, outreach, and conservation in the White Mountain region of New Hampshire.
“On behalf of the entire GMCG board, I am thrilled to announce the selection of Nancy Ritger,” said GMCG Board Chair Peter Zack. “With her combination of knowledge, experience and leadership skills, she is more than prepared to lead GMCG into its next chapter as we build on our 27-year history of innovative programs and fulfill our unique mission of protecting the waters and natural resources of the Ossipee Watershed for future generations.”
Adding to Peter’s comments, Nancy said: “As a longtime resident and fellow steward of the area, I value the extraordinary accomplishments of GMCG in stewarding our precious water resources in this region. I have dedicated my life to conservation in the White Mountains region and I am excited for the opportunity to continue that work in the Ossipee Watershed region.”
“Working in collaboration with the GMCG staff, volunteers, partners and members of the board to provide science backed protection strategies and promote important stewardship practices is a dream job,” she added.
