The Ossipee Aquifer: A Story of Water crankie is a creative project of Chocorua Lake Conservancy, Cook Memorial Library, Green Mountain Conservation Group, and Yeoman’s Fund for the Arts. The project brings awareness to the importance of protecting the aquifer for future generations. View a .pdf of the graphic novel HERE.
The crankie is a 30-foot communal painting that acts as a “graphic novel”. The following video created by Peggy Johnson shows the 30ft long “scroll” as it is “cranked” along.
The mission of GMCG is to promote an awareness of and appreciation for clean water and the wise use of shared natural resources across the Ossipee Watershed and advocate strategies to protect them.
