Aquifer Protection Committee Members

Volunteers from Ossipee Watershed towns serve on this GMCG Board standing committee with GMCG Board members and staff.  The mission of the Aquifer Protection Committee (APC) is to promote public awareness and empower our communities so we can act together to protect drinking water resources. We will do this by proactively providing strategies and tools to our communities and working alongside them to leverage these in support of aquifer protection. This committee operates under the auspices of the Green Mountain Conservation Group and reports to the Board of Directors. It will inform, advise and provide recommendations to the Board that are pertinent to aquifer health and protection. Volunteers Zoom meetings about every 6 weeks. Ad hoc meetings will be scheduled when urgent issues arise.

Currently the Aquifer Protection Committee is engaged in advocacy against a proposed gas station over the Town of Effingham’s Ground Water Protection District. More information on this issue can be found here.
