Winter Salt Awareness Week 2026 is January 26-30

GMCG is a proud partner in this collaboration of governmental and nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and Canada with a goal is to raise awareness of the ways winter road salt damages infrastructure and threatens the health of lakes, streams, and drinking water – and to promote salt reduction solutions. GMCG is working with WI Salt Wise NH Department of Environmental Services (NH DES) to promote the week with a flyer, PSAs, educational social media posts for the general public about salt reduction and chlorides. Road agents and crews, private contractors, town officials, conservation commissioners, lake associations and residents, and members of the public can learn about the problem with salt, solutions that work, and best practices to keep our fresh water fresh.
